WWF Bolivia receives recognition for its contribution to the forestry sector

On March 28th, WWF Bolivia, the conservation organization, was awarded a special recognition on behalf of the Bolivian Forestry Chamber for its contribution to the forest sector. The award was received by WWF Bolivia's Country Representative, Mr. Roger Landivar, during the swearing in ceremony of the Forestry Chamber's Board of Directors during the fourth Wood Industry Business Roundtable, of which WWF and its GFTN (Global Forest and Trade Network) also took part, with the participation of over 30 international GFTN member businessmen.

Companies participating in the FTN forest already implemented its Responsible Purchasing Policy

The FTN Bolivia has been developing a series of workshops aimed at all staff of the companies that form part of the FTN, to socialize Responsible Purchasing Policy borne by these companies, in La Paz, Cochabamba and Riberalta.

Business roundtable and access to responsible forest markets

WWF Bolivia s Forest and Trade Network (FTN) along with various participating companies took part in Construmat the largest construction fair in Spain and the second largest in Europe and venue for a business roundtable facilitated by WWF Spain in collaboration with the Bolivia FTN.

Official launching of the Bolivian FTN: Member of WWF s Global Forest and Trade Network (GFTN)

The Bolivia Forest and Trade Network (FTN) was officially launched in April in the world s capital for forest certification, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, as an initiative of WWF Bolivia. The goal is to link the Bolivian FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified supply, or in process of certification, with the responsible demand of international participant companies from one of the 30 Forest and Trade Networks (FTNs) worldwide.

First GFTN Business Mission in Bolivia

The Bolivia Forest and Trade Network (FTN) led the first Business Mission of Buyers during the Business Roundtable for the Bolivian Wood Industry organized by the Bolivian Forestry Chamber during the 2007 Expoforest exhibit and trade fair in Santa Cruz (March 21st to 24th).

Certified wood opens doors to markets in the north

Aiming to link the Bolivian certified wood offer or that in process of FSC certification with the responsible demand from international companies, WWF Bolivia, through its Bolivia Forest and Trade Network (FTN), organized the Buyers Business Mission made up of European companies that are a part of the GFTN and Bolivian companies participating in the Bolivia FTN.

Promotion of the Bolivia FTN and its participting members

The Bolivia Forest and Trade Network (Bolivia FTN) participated in the seminar organized by the Belgian association Fair Timber entitled FSC today and tomorrow: South America opportunities and obstacles for the Belgian and European timber market . The trip was also an opportunity to inform upon the objectives goals and activities of the Bolivia FTN as well as connect with markets aimed at promoting the Bolivian supply of certified wood with the European companies.
